Randomization type

Randomized Complete Block (recommended)

Randomized complete block design. Each block contains one rep of every treatment — controls for bench position effects.

Spatial (multi-variety)

Each bench gets one fixed treatment. Each bench is split into variety zones (top/bottom half). Use for multi-variety trials.

Split plot

Each bench is a whole plot (one main treatment). Sub-treatments are randomized within. Specify whole-plot factor below.

Custom (painted)

Paint treatments and varieties onto each cell manually. Auto-detects blocks from consecutive treatment pairs. Good for systematic or non-standard layouts.
